My first clinical practice

Introduction:

In 2024, I started my first clinical practice at the Hospital Nacional San Pedro de Usulután. It was an exciting morning because it was my first real contact with patients in a professional setting.

​Description of Activities:

First, I arrived at the internal medicine ward and met my supervisor. Then, I performed basic nursing care, such as making beds and monitoring vital signs. I measured blood pressure and heart rates for several patients. After that, I assisted the senior nurses with wound care and medication administration.

​Personal Reflection:

I felt a bit nervous at the beginning, but I learned that communication is the most important tool. I understood that nursing is not just about clinical tasks, but also about empathy.

​Conclusion:

In conclusion, this experience was very significant for my professional growth. It showed me the reality of healthcare in Usulután and motivated me to keep studying.

    I enjoyed reading your experience because it shows how you faced your first clinical practice with courage. Even if you felt nervous, you were able to learn and adapt. That is very important in nursing.

  Introduction My experience during my hospital practice in the neonatal area was completely new and beautiful. Even though I had already completed other clinical practices, I felt as if it were my very first day. I was very nervous, but at the same time, I felt a strong sense of happiness and curiosity to enter that area, observe, and learn. I tried to stay focused and calm, reminding myself that everything would go well. Description of Activities While I was in the neonatal unit, the nurse explained in detail the activities we would be doing. As it was my first time there, I felt very nervous and anxious.   Introduction  My nursing practice took place in the “birth with love” room at the Hospital Nacional San Pedro in November 2025. During this practice, I was in the maternity area. I felt excited and nervous because I wanted to help properly. Description of Activities First, we arrived at 6:30 a.m. and restocked supplies in the area. We also checked expiration dates on materials like alcohol and cotton. After that, we changed the “ice packs” to keep medicines and vaccines, like oxytocin, cold. Then, we monitored maternal vital signs every hour, including blood pressure, temperature, and heart rate, and checked the fetal heart rate every 30 minutes.
